Bonwit Teller Returning With Stores in N.Y., L.A.

Wow, you could have knocked me over with a feather when I read this in WWD. I had a friend in NYC who's grandmother was the original Bonwit Teller "girl" and lived on Sutton Place - oh the glamour!

Oh I remember this store from when I was much younger.
My mother always stated that this was one of the classiest stores around.

What a surprise. After reading an article about Juicy Couture in the USA Today there was a coment made by the CEO of Bonwit Teller.
I had no idea they were reopening!
I was an Assistant Buyer in Contempory Dresses back in the late 80's when the company "Hooker purchased them and then a short time later closed all except for one store in upstate New York.
Great News Hope They Will Be Very Successful!!!!!!

I really hope they re-open! My grandmother was a fashion buyer with the NYC store in the 1940's & 1950's when she retired to make a new life in New Zealand where her daughter, my mother, lived. On her retirement she was given a full length swing style fur coat with her initials embroidered in the lining. The coat is magnificent and she passed it to me in the 1980's. I treasure it for it's history but do not wear it out for fear of it being damaged by an anti fur activist. Even though I do not support the fur industry I love the coat and feel like a princess every time I try it on as it is such a flattering cut. BTW may grandmother's name was Margaret Jane Cochrane in case there is anyone who remembers her from those times. Sadly she passed away in 1986 but still had fond memories of her time at the store.
