The Hunter's On

KATE MOSS may have made Hunter wellies trendy again by wearing them to Glastonbury a couple of years ago, but now Suzy Radcliffe - who brought us bum-lifting new denim label for everywoman, Radcliffe Denim, in 2005 - is determinedly keeping them in the style spotlight.

The result of the chi chi London label's collaboration with the 152-year-old British company is a Sixties-shaped trench coat that will debut on the Ronnie Loves rails at Dover Street Market just in time for London Fashion Week.

Available in beige, black and bright red - to keep you right on trend - and priced at £495, the coats are a result of a simple meeting of minds: "I have always loved Hunter, but became reacquainted with them when I was in New York about four years ago and saw all the fashion editors wearing them with their normal clothes in the rain," says Radcliffe. "Before that I always associated them with country living - but that really changed my mind."

"Radcliffe has been doing a trench coat for the last couple of seasons and when I heard Hunter had been planning to launch one, it seemed natural to get together on it."

Radcliffe Denim, which was in part acquired by Pentland (parent company to Lacoste, Berghaus and Speedo), last year, will also be included in Topshop's new premium denim section - due to open next month - and to celebrate, Suzy herself is hosting a Denim Clinic throughout fashion week. "Buying jeans can be so traumatic since there is just so much choice," she adds. "This way, customers can bring in their favourite pair and have a personal consultation - we'll even alter their jeans for free."
