Simply Horrible

Remember when I said I wasn't going to watch the Chanel movie with Shirley MacLaine on Lifetime? For starters, Chanel + Shirley + Lifetime don't really add up. And I should have listened to my gut and known better especially since I had read the reviews! However, I found myself home last night with 3 hours to spare so I watched it. The whole three hour mess. I can't even begin to express how bad it was and how horrible Shirley was in the movie (she was easily the worst part). Not only was Shirley a disaster but I found it to be on the historically inaccurate side. They spent way too much time on her early life then tried to squeeze in everything from 1919 (post Boy Capel's death) on. UGH! And the way they had Shirley spout out every "famous" and overused quote in one scene? Seriously, whoever wrote, produced, directed that piece of crap should be shot. And whoever enjoyed it, well, I am going to just keep my mouth shut as far as that goes. I can only hope that Audrey Tatou does better but honestly, it couldn't be any worse!

So you're not going to tell us how you really felt about it? :)

I believe they are airing it again tonight for anyone that has 3 hours to kill and wants to weigh in!

I tried watching & yes it was straight up terrible. I watched up to the part where she uses Boy's Cappel's money to open a shop.
It was very boring. They definitely didn't sweat the details for this movie, for example her eye color mysteriously changed from brown in the flashbacks to blue in the
1950s/present & she went from having a French accent to having no accent. I mean I'm sure Shirley could have mustered a convincing French accent but the director probably didn't want to bother.

Oh the non-accent bothered me as well! I just read the review in The New York Times - the reviewer didn't like it either - pretty funny.

I started watching this last night, too. But I didn't last the whole 3 hours, in fact I tuned out after an hour =(
