As seen on The Moment: In a new video from The International Herald Tribune, Suzy Menkes looks at the history of plaid and credits Vivienne Westwood with the textile’s emergence as a subversive material that’s still going strong on the runway. There is a new book by Jonathan Faiers, Tartan: Textiles that Changed the World (previously blogged about by me last January over here) that weaves together the history of the Scots, “Brigadoon,” Alexander McQueen, Junya Watanabe and Andre 3000.
