- Never wash your hair two days in a row.
- Always wear SPF 30 sunscreen, come rain or shine, winter or summer.
- Wash your face every night before bed ... even when drunk ... even when tired.
- French manicures are not an option.
- Everybody looks better with a hint of bronzer or self-tanner.
- Avoid frowning - just like your mom said, your face will stick that way.
- Don't smoke - it causes wrinkles, sallow, uneven skin and yellow teeth. (Oh, yeah, and that whole cancer thing, too.)
- Introduce acids into your daily routine - glycolic, salicylic, retinoid, whatever. Your skin will thank you for it.
- Antioxidants are your best friend. Eat them, drink them, wear them, love them.
- Smile. When you carry yourself beautiful, you are beautiful.

I agree with a lot of these but not all especially numero uno - some people can't get away with that! Discuss.P.S. Here is a link to favorite, can't live without beauty products - no surprises.

Will have to add this to my wish list. Thanks.
#4 - I'm confused! I"m a "very short nails with no polish" girl, but I always thought a french manicure was classic and understated. What am I missing?
LOVE your blog! Frankly, I'm a bit obsessed. I really appreciate how often you update!
Cheers!
I'll keep my eyes open for this book!
FYI - The author was a former beauty editor that started a blog called Jolie in the City and was fired.
Her blog was one of the first I read so I'm excited the book is finally coming out! She still blogs at www.jolienyc.com/
#1 - I assume that means don't wash with shampoo two days in a row? I used to when I noticed that my ends were splitting so I now shampoo every other day. If I don't, my hair looks awful.
#4 - I like French manicures but haven't done my nails at all since I started taking guitar lessons. I should at least put on some clear or sheer polish.
AFAIC, I think people should take what they want from this list and leave the rest. They're not the 10 Commandments.
Some people with different hair texture can get away with washing it every other day, but I feel fun-kay when I don't wash my hair everyday.
Is this the same Jolie you've been reading for a while?
I'll like to know more about why french manicures are a no-no too! I wear my nails short with a french manicure all the time!?!

Different Jolies. I don't read too many beauty blogs for the same reason I don't subscribe to Allure Magazine anymore - too much information and it all seems so recycled! It's not like this is ground breaking information.
Re: The Hair - I think they mean every other day. I wash my hair about 5 times a week on average. One day of the week I can get away with a ponytail at work (like today if I don't feel like washing it or I am running late) and then once on the weekend.
I didn't realize that french manicures were considered so horrible! Don't tell that to 3/4 of NJ residents!
I agree with most of the list but like a lot of you, I was surprised by the french manicures! Personally I like them.
I only disagree with #5. Faux tans look fake to me.
Great list...thanks for the share!
I prefer my pasty, white glow that is with me year around. Others would say that I DEFINITELY need some bronzer.
Great list! I can't wash my hair everyday or it will turn to straw. I agree about the french manicures though, I prefer a sheer pink.
I prefer a sheer color as well but I don't think there is anything wrong with a french manicure. It sort of sounded like it was a crime of fashion/beauty!
I'm in violation!!!
#1- I have to wash my hair everyday. I know it's not recommended but I can't help it. I do occasionally do a hat day on the weekend but that is even rare.
#4-I like French manicures on shorter nails. I wear a pink sheer color normally but for a special occasion, I like to do a FM. It makes my hands look more feminine (then just the sheer color). I don't like it when people have French manicures on really long nails and then add other things...
Good list, and I totally agree about French maincures. I am a sheer pink polish person. I think that the sculptured nail community kind of ruined the French manicure. This person doesn't have fine blonde hair because if she did she would understand that an every other day wash is just not an option.
