Too Many Catalogs? Save a Tree.

There is such a thing especially when you don't want them! I was just thinking last night as I went through a stack of them I wonder if I called them would they take me off their mailing list. The catalogs I actually want I never seem to receive but isn't that always the way. I loathe Neiman Marcus as previously mentioned & will never ever buy anything from them again so I really don't need to receive a catalog from them once a week. I don't own my own home and can't decorate the one I am presently living in so do I really need a Pottery Barn, West Elm, Brocade Home, etc. catalog once a week? I don't think so. Most often these catalogs go right into the trash and I honestly feel bad about wasting all that paper. Voila - today's NY Times Style Section has the answer. Read on to learn about Catalog Choice...I am going to sign up right now!

Did you see the article about the Critical Shopper's trip to the Balenciaga boutique? The help sound absolutely dreadful there.

I really don't understand the motivation of sales help being horrible in any store. Isn't the point to want to not only tell their friends about the great service they received but to return and buy more?

You would think. It sounds like they function more as gatekeepers than sales assistants.

Corinne,
LOVE that analogy. Sometimes I really want to ask the so-called sales assistants if they really want to sell the item I'm spending my money on. Or, "I'm so sorry to be inconveniencing you by funding the store that pays your salary." errr.

It can be a full on assault! They change the cover, but the inside stays the same. I swear, the Victoria's Secret catalog STILL has the same pair of pajamas in it that they were selling 15 years ago.

YES! We can see it all online now, why do they have to send the same catalogs over and over once a week anyway? I think you're onto something and I am going to write to Victorial Secret right now!

So true. J. Crew, Lands End, Garnet Hill, etc. are so guilty of that.
