Everybody's doing it! I was actually going to do a separate post about the exhibit at the MET entitled "blog.mode" but I saw this and voila - very exciting for a dedicated follower of fashion like myself:
Blogging is going high fashion next month with the introduction of a series of celebrity designer guest bloggers that will make public their first-hand accounts on T: The New York Times Style Magazine's new Web site. Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez will kick things off on Monday, blogging a minimum of five entries throughout the week. "They're going to lead off because they're a really exciting American label, which I thought was important," said Horacio Silva, T features and online director. "One of the things I'm trying to avoid is solipsistic navel-gazing."
The following week will feature the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Harold Koda and Andrew Bolton, who will blog in anticipation of their upcoming exhibit, "blog.mode: addressing fashion." The last two weeks of December will feature Murray Moss, proprietor behind the SoHo gallery and shop Moss, and Sheikh Majed al-Sabah, the retail pioneer behind Villa Moda. "The focus is to be themselves, to show users they don't live in an isolated world," said Silva, who added that the spirit of the blogs would read like sharing an email with friends. "I don't want it to be homework for them; it'll reveal a lot about their personalities and anything spinning in their heads at the time."
The site will start the New Year with guest bloggers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana of Dolce & Gabbana, as well as Rick Owens. Bloggers aren't limited to just bold-faced fashion names, however. Silva said he hopes to include other categories, such as food and travel, utilizing experts like Eric Ripert and Richard Branson.
