I saw this article too & thought it was a rather snarky take on a serious thing. What is self-serving about hoping to continue to keep up one's wardrobe, but setting reasonable budget expectations for same? And so my love/hate relationship with the NYT Style page continues . . .
Mel - you and me both on the love/hate relationship with the NY Times Style section!
I think that some people will have to seriously scale back because of the economic crisis - I cut back a lot on driving when gas prices were through the roof!
